Rev. Dr. Kathy Pickett comes to Prairie from Holmeswood Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri, where she served in many capacities for over 25 years. She began her ministry with Prairie Baptist Church, November 4, 2013. Kathy and her husband Allen are life-long residents of Kansas City. She received her Master of Divinity from Central Baptist Theological Seminary and her Doctor of Ministry from Saint Paul School of Theology. Her dissertation focused on transformational leadership and church renewal.
Kathy shares, “I once heard Bill Hybels say, “There is nothing like the local church when the local church gets it right.” She is passionate about partnering with a congregation who desires to get it right. Not perfect, but interested in seeking God’s lead, following Jesus’ example, and being the incarnational hands and feet of Christ in the local and global world around us.” Kathy believes communities of faith, the body of Christ, must seek to offer God’s welcoming, inviting, restoring, redeeming inclusive love to all persons. She shares, “Triune love is the impetus for living out what God requires of us to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God while loving our neighbors as we love God and ourselves.”
Kathy enjoys spending time with her family and grandchildren as much as possible. She enjoys sewing and sharing her gifts to make a meaningful difference in the life of others.
