Prairie Early Childhood Center
PECC’s Legacy of Learning and Love!
On April 1, 1974 Prairie Baptist Church welcomed 20 bright-faced children to the newly formed Prairie Preschool. Under the leadership of director Patsy Blalock, the center continued to grow and add more students and new programs. Due to the multiple levels of programs offered, Prairie Preschool’s name was changed to Prairie Early Childhood Center (PECC) in 1991.
Patsy Blalock retired in 1995 and Karen Fenton became the director in 1996. Under Karen Fenton’s leadership PECC continued the legacy of offering outstanding early childhood programming and care for children and families. Following Karen’s retirement in July 2017, Becky Humphrey became director in August, 2017. Becky had been teaching at PECC for 19 years.
PECC now welcomes over 100 families to PECC during the course of a school year. The center has adapted and adjusted to early childhood trends, continuously providing quality programing for early learners. But early childhood education is not just about academic learning. PECC is place where all children, their families and the staff are welcomed and shown the love and grace of God.
All About Us!
At Prairie Early Childhood Center (PECC) we welcome children ages 16 months to 5 years old. Our students learn through play, hands-on activities and in daily routines. Experiences are standards-based, child-focused and formulated on knowledge of child development and individual learning needs. For more information on our different programs, click the button below!
