During a 2013, CBF Movement Leadership Team Meeting, we were asked to write one sentence sermons. Found online recently, is a post that I wrote explaining my one sentence sermon, “Questions are Better Than Answers.” In many ways, this sentence undergirds why I asked our congregation what you want to hear and explore this summer in worship. In my article related to the sticky note I share,
“Twenty-first century communities of faith need to make room for messy, questioning, doubting, faith and disbelief. Jesus did a nice job of this with his well-known friend, doubting Thomas…’When we welcome and invite doubt, making room for questions, while encouraging openness, honesty and permission to disagree, we grow in our faith as well.’” (https://cbfblog.com/2012/11/13/questions-are-better-than-answers-kathy-pickett/)
